Replacing silver amalgam fillings safely with SMART.
SMART Protocol
A high-volume air filtration system known as Dental Air Vacuum System will be in function inside the room during the removal of silver fillings.
Oxygen will be delivered via a nasal cannula for the patient to prevent inhaling any mercury vapor or amalgam particulate during the procedure.
All windows in the room must be open. All dental staff as well as the patient, will have to wear protective gowns. It is very important as particles of mercury may spread from the mouth to your knees, chest, shoulders, and neck as well as on us!
We will provide protective caps, as well as active carbon masks.
We will use nitrile gloves.
We will place and sealed a dental dam in your mouth.
We will use a strong saliva suction system throughout the procedure. Our main aim is to protect you from the mercury amalgam particles.
The amalgam should be sectioned in to chunks and removed in as large pieces as possible.
You will rinse your mouth with the mouthwash of Chlorella at the end of the procedure.
